Senior Software Engineer - Firefox Enterprise

About the role

💼 What you will do

• Join the Firefox Enterprise team responsible for improving and maintaining Firefox support for large Enterprise deployments. • Handle all things related to OS integration such as updates, installs, and integrating Firefox with different operating systems. • Contribute to the code driving Firefox on desktop platforms including Windows, Linux, and macOS. • Work independently on scoped projects and collaborate closely with peers. • Help grow the Firefox user base through improved enterprise features.

📋 Job Requirements

• Experience with systems programming on a major desktop platform (Windows, macOS or Linux). • Solid understanding of C/C++ and some knowledge of Rust. • Solid understanding of JavaScript and typical interactions with the backend (services, REST, etc.). • Excellent communicator with experience participating effectively on a distributed team. • Pragmatic approach to moving things forward including trade-offs and safeguards when implementing new functionality. • Experience working collaboratively with product managers, project managers, and other non-engineering teams.

🌟 Nice-to-have

• Professional programming experience in Rust. • Experience developing cross-platform desktop applications. • Low level systems programming experience such as Win32 APIs on Windows, Cocoa APIs on macOS or GTK on Linux. • Previous successful contributions to an open source project. • Experience with browser development or enterprise software deployment. • Background in security-focused software development.

• Develop, innovate, and ship the next experience of Firefox through improved integration with the operating system. • Improve the ease of use and security of Firefox in large deployments by developing better administration and monitoring tools. • Improve Firefox functionality by better integration with remote services. • Assess what work supports the team and product roadmap and make insightful recommendations on priorities. • Optimize the quality of Firefox by hunting down and fixing software defects. • Improve the experience of hundreds of millions of users. • Work with a geographically-distributed development team. • Contribute to architectural discussions and drive feature development within the team.
