About the role

💼 What you will do

• Join the Connectivity squad within Core Infrastructure owning the client networking stack end to end from HTTP requests to real-time messaging and connection state management. • Join early in the squad formation working alongside a small group of senior engineers with high ownership and direct influence on technical direction. • Build and evolve the core systems that power client networking across Spotify mobile platforms for hundreds of millions of users globally.

📋 Job Requirements

• Have 5 or more years of experience in mobile or infrastructure engineering with strong expertise in C++. • Be experienced working across Android or iOS environments and navigating large multi-platform codebases. • Have built and shipped production-grade SDKs or mobile infrastructure components. • Have a deep understanding of networking fundamentals such as HTTP/2+, WebSockets, caching, retries, and resilience patterns. • Be familiar with real-time messaging systems such as PubSub or WebSocket-based architectures. • Be confident debugging, profiling, and optimising performance across native and platform layers. • Have experience with CI/CD systems, build tooling, and modularisation at scale. • Be comfortable working in a forming team environment with evolving scope and structure. • Communicate clearly and collaborate effectively across mobile, backend, and infrastructure teams.

• Have experience working across both Android and iOS platforms simultaneously. • Have experience with protocol design or client-server communication architecture. • Have experience migrating away from legacy networking systems at scale. • Have experience with observability solutions including metrics and telemetry for end-to-end debugging.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Build and evolve the core systems that power client networking across Spotify mobile platforms. • Refactor and modularise existing components across C++, Android, and iOS improving structure, ownership, and long-term scalability. • Improve integration layers to reduce coupling and simplify adoption across client applications. • Design and implement observability solutions including metrics and telemetry to support end-to-end debugging. • Lead migrations away from legacy networking systems ensuring stability and minimising risk during transitions. • Balance forward-looking development with maintaining reliability for hundreds of millions of active users. • Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and partner teams to align on priorities and delivery. • Contribute to long-term architectural decisions and help define best practices for mobile and client infrastructure.
