Legal Engineer

• Sit at the intersection of law and technology, helping translate legal expertise into AI-powered tools used by thousands of companies. • Play a key role in ensuring AI agents produce accurate, reliable, and commercially useful legal outputs. • Directly influence the design, training, and evaluation of AI systems powering Genie.

• Hold a legal qualification (LLB or equivalent). • Have strong practical knowledge of contract law and experience analysing legal documents. • Have excellent legal drafting skills with experience reviewing and negotiating contracts. • Have a strong interest in AI and enthusiasm for learning about emerging technologies. • Have the ability to work cross-functionally and collaborate effectively with technical teams. • Have strong organisational and project management skills. • Have a proactive, creative, and entrepreneurial mindset. • Be comfortable working in fast-moving environments and thinking outside the box. • Have a curiosity for innovation and improving how legal work is done.

• Evaluate the quality and reliability of AI agents' legal outputs through hands-on legal evaluations. • Work toward building scalable automated evaluation systems using LLM-as-a-judge techniques. • Help improve AI agents by encoding specialised legal knowledge and strong legal drafting practices into their behaviour. • Work closely with researchers and engineers to test AI features, provide legal feedback, and iterate on solutions to improve performance and reliability. • Analyse evaluation results and produce clear insights and reports that guide improvements to AI models and products. • Lead the development of the community-led LegalBench benchmarking initiative. • Design evaluation tasks, build a roadmap, and coordinate work with the wider legal and AI community.
