Senior Financial Crime Investigator - Business Banking

• Play a pivotal role within Monzo's financial crime operations as the frontline defence against economic crime. • Complete higher risk, high complexity financial crime tasks on business accounts. • Support Team Managers and coach Investigators to achieve quality and productivity goals. • Directly contribute to Monzo's safety and reputation and the broader fight against illicit finance.

• Have significant and specific experience in conducting end-to-end due diligence (KYB) and investigations on businesses in a regulated financial crime setting. • Have proven ability to conduct in-depth, high-quality open-source research and analysis to corroborate customer profiles and transactional activity. • Have strong foundational and applied Financial Crime knowledge with deep exposure to Know Your Business (KYB) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) principles. • Have a strong understanding of current UK and international financial crime trends and typologies impacting business accounts such as trade-based money laundering, complex shell structures, and illicit use of payment services. • Have a comprehensive understanding of the UK Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) regime including consent requirements and the legislative framework (POCA). • Demonstrate an ability to give clear, constructive, and kind feedback that motivates colleagues. • Thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt positively and quickly to change. • Maintain flexibility in scheduled tasks and adapt when business needs require changes at short notice.

• Have direct experience completing Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) and/or Complex Customer Reviews. • Have experience writing and reviewing/approving SARs. • Have formal or informal experience of coaching, mentoring, or training peers or more junior team members. • Demonstrate a track record of identifying areas for control/process improvement and working with stakeholders to implement change. • Hold or be working towards an appropriate qualification relevant to Financial Crime such as ACAMS or ICA Diploma.

• Take ownership of the most complex FinCrime Business Banking tasks including Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) for high-risk businesses, Complex Customer Reviews, and multi-jurisdictional money muling investigations. • Write, review, and submit high-quality Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) to the National Crime Agency (NCA) ensuring they meet the highest legal and evidential standards. • Maintain a regular schedule on core investigative tasks to sustain competency levels and directly support the domain's Service Level Agreements. • Actively coach Investigators on complex financial crime typologies, best practice, and performance improvement to drive a culture of excellence. • Work closely with Operations Analysts to share emerging trends and ensure operational guidance is continuously updated and embedded across the domain.
