Senior Controls Manager, ERMF

• Drive greater efficiency and automation across Monzo's central control processes, including Issues Management, Policies & Standards, RCSA, Regulatory Change, and Non-Prudential Regulatory Reporting. • Help embedded Control Business Partners and Risk Owners operationalise all aspects of Monzo's Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF) in the first line of defence. • Operate with a product and service mindset — equipping the organisation with the platform, processes, data, and training to make control management as automated and proportionate as possible. • A global capability, delivering to all markets and subsidiaries with close engagement with Risk & Compliance in the second line. • London or fully remote within the UK, with ad hoc meetings in London.

• Exceptional risk and control expertise from Banking, Financial Services, or FinTech. • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and tackle complex issues in matrix environments. • Strong track record in managing first-line risk in a hands-on way, with experience growing new business in control. • Data-driven control leader, able to drive real-time data insights to keep controls live. • Thrives in fast-paced settings with resilience, adaptability, and strong execution skills. • Curious and collaborative, adept at asking insightful questions and acting quickly on new information.

• Experience in process improvement, deploying AI, or working in scaling environments or tech companies. • Background contributing to GRC tool re-platforming or regulatory horizon scanning tooling. • Experience fostering risk culture and upskilling risk owners across three lines of defence.

• As a subject matter expert, design and redesign processes, systems, and controls to ensure proportionate and risk-based compliance with the ERMF. • Partner with Risk & Compliance to support growth and maintain alignment between first and second line. • Operate with a product and service mindset to deliver value to Risk Owners. • Drive real-time data insights to ensure controls are kept live and current. • Elevate Monzo's control environment to greater maturity and scalability, pioneering a proactive approach to risk management. • Contribute to successful re-platforming across GRC and regulatory horizon scanning tools. • Foster positive relationships across the three lines of defence, upskilling risk owners and promoting a transparent risk culture.
