Data Engineer

• Own and evolve Abound's Data Lake infrastructure and ETL pipelines, acting as a key bridge between the Platform and Data Science teams. • Migrate key production workloads — including model calibration, ad-hoc analytics, and reporting — directly into the Data Lake. • Redesign data structures and clustering strategies to improve query performance, reduce AWS costs, and ensure high data recency. • Partner closely with Data Science to understand workflows and enable scalable, efficient data usage. • Build robust, production-grade data systems using modern AWS tooling including ECS Fargate, Lambda, Athena, Glue, DMS, and Iceberg.

• Have a strong software engineering foundation with applied knowledge of SOLID principles in data systems. • Have proven experience building and maintaining Change Data Capture (CDC) pipelines, ideally with AWS DMS. • Have hands-on expertise with Spark and AWS Glue, including transforming RDS workloads into scalable pipelines. • Be highly proficient in SQL, particularly within transactional RDS environments. • Have experience implementing governance, standards, and best practices across data platforms. • Be comfortable owning systems end to end and working cross-functionally with technical stakeholders.

• Have experience with Apache Iceberg for data lake table format management. • Have familiarity with observability tooling such as Amazon Managed Prometheus. • Have experience in a fintech or regulated data environment. • Have experience optimising AWS infrastructure costs across data workloads.
