Software Development Engineer II, Navigation, Traffic

• Join the Navigation, Traffic team developing and maintaining web services powering virtually all of Mapbox's strategic navigation initiatives. • Work across consumer, automotive, and logistics domains. • Be part of a highly multidisciplinary team with work spanning distributed systems on AWS to geospatial localization, traffic telemetry, and mapping.

• Have 5+ years of experience building scalable high-volume low-latency backend services. • Have proficiency in the tech stack including Python, TypeScript (backend), and AWS (CDK/ECS/Step Functions/Lambda/S3). • Have familiarity with code versioning tools such as GitHub. • Have the ability to engage, learn, and contribute quickly to initiatives. • Be able to perform independently all development tasks based on designs and specs. • Be a self-starter who is communication and outcomes-oriented. • Have an empirical analytical approach, developing strong hypotheses, conducting spikes, and clearly communicating findings. • Have a desire to share expertise through documentation, mentorship, pairing, and both written and verbal discussion. • Have a desire to work with individuals with diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences. • Have a high-quality mindset, writing unit tests, proactively remedying defects, and following through to production.
