Senior Full Stack Engineer

• Build and support a particular part of Monzo's banking platform as a full-stack engineer embedded in a cross-functional squad. • Work alongside product managers, designers, mobile and web engineers, data analysts, and more to make a real difference to customers. • Squads belong to wider collectives including Core Banking, Business Banking, Wealth, Borrowing, Growth, Payments, Platform, Fincrime, Security, and Expansion. • Write backend code in Go and build modern component-oriented frontend experiences in React. • London or fully remote within the UK, with no mandated office attendance.

• Strong experience working on the backend of a technology product. • Experience building modern component-oriented JavaScript applications using frameworks such as React, Vue, Angular, or TypeScript. • Interest in building performant web experiences and designing UI that makes it easy for users to accomplish what they need. • Product mindset — cares about customer outcomes and wants to make data-informed decisions. • Comfortable working in a team that deals with ambiguity. • Interest in distributed systems and writing resilient software. • Some experience with strongly-typed languages such as Go, Java, C, or Scala.

• Prior experience with Go specifically. • Familiarity with Cassandra, Kafka, Kubernetes, or Docker. • Background working in a regulated or financial services engineering environment.

• Build and support a part of Monzo's banking platform within a cross-functional squad. • Write backend application code in Go and build frontend experiences in React for public web apps and internal tools. • Work with Cassandra for data storage, Kafka for async messaging, and Kubernetes/Docker for service scheduling. • Collaborate across disciplines — product, design, data, and operations — to solve meaningful customer problems. • Contribute to open-source software where possible and share knowledge through Monzo's engineering blog culture.
