Staff Product Engineer

• Own 2–3 high-leverage company bets per year — not just team projects — turning fuzzy problems into clear plans with measurable member outcomes. • Ship small, end-to-end slices every 1–2 weeks so real members feel the benefit regularly. • Define and evolve the patterns and primitives other engineers build on, keeping them simple, understandable, and teachable. • Design "paved roads" — stable contracts, libraries, and workflows — so the team doesn't reinvent solutions repeatedly. • Act as a multiplier for other engineers through mentorship, embedded pairing, and reviews that catch issues and teach patterns. • Report directly to the CTO and influence company direction through how you frame problems and ship solutions.

• Have led fuzzy, cross-functional bets before — pulling together product, ops, and engineering to ship something that moved a meaningful metric. • Think in systems and primitives: contracts, workflows, failure modes, and observability. • Be comfortable and expert across key parts of the stack: TypeScript, React, Postgres, Temporal, AWS. • Be happiest when hands-on in code, but also able to write the doc, draw the diagram, and bring others with you. • Have demonstrated effectiveness at mentoring, growing, and unblocking other engineers. • Get frustrated by wasted effort or avoidable complexity, and naturally design paved roads so others don't trip on the same things twice. • Prefer a small, sharp, in-person team over a large org with pre-defined processes.

• Have experience building agentic AI systems that read, reason, and act on behalf of users. • Have experience with Temporal for long-running workflow orchestration. • Have experience owning a front-end platform including routing, data fetching, error handling, and state management patterns. • Have experience with data tooling such as Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, Amplitude, or Segment.

• Own high-leverage cross-team bets from problem definition through to shipped, measurable outcomes. • Define metrics that matter, set technical constraints, and create concrete implementation plans from messy starting points. • Set and evolve patterns and primitives that other engineers build on across Nous. • Design reliable, observable, right-sized infrastructure and workflow patterns for a fast-growing team. • Mentor senior engineers and emerging tech leads, embedding with teams when they're stuck. • Create canonical, skimmable documentation for major initiatives that Product, Ops, and Engineering can all rely on. • Collaborate directly with the CTO, Product, and Ops leadership on company direction.
