About the role

💼 What you will do

• Lead the miniaturisation of Quantum Dice's cutting-edge probabilistic computing platform, defining and executing the ASIC strategy end to end. • Assess system components to determine optimal implementation as ASIC versus FPGA or GPU, evaluating trade-offs across performance, power, and scalability. • Define and own high-level system architecture, refining requirements into functional, logical, and physical architectures, interfaces, and constraints. • Oversee the full ASIC design lifecycle from specification and RTL design through verification and physical implementation. • Manage relationships with semiconductor foundries and packaging vendors, coordinating fabrication, packaging, and testing processes.

📋 Job Requirements

• Have a strong understanding of system architecture, memory requirements, and interface protocols. • Have knowledge of ASIC design flow including synthesis, place-and-route, and verification. • Have familiarity with FPGA and GPU architectures and their respective advantages. • Have a proven track record managing ASIC projects from concept to production including fabrication and packaging. • Have experience in heterogeneous computing systems and hardware-software co-design. • Have the ability to assess trade-offs between ASIC, FPGA, and GPU implementations. • Have excellent communication and leadership skills for cross-functional collaboration.

🌟 Nice-to-have

• Have experience with probabilistic or unconventional computing architectures. • Have familiarity with advanced packaging technologies such as chiplets, 2.5D, or 3D integration. • Have knowledge of low-power design techniques and high-speed interfaces.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Define ASIC architecture in alignment with overall system requirements including interfaces and memory hierarchy. • Lead partitioning decisions across analogue and digital domains, compute, memory, IO subsystems, and chiplet strategy. • Oversee internal and third-party IP for design blocks, chiplets, PDKs, and chip-to-chip interfaces. • Drive top-level floor planning and direct functional simulations across multiple domains. • Lead integration of ASIC components into the broader computing platform. • Collaborate with software and hardware teams to validate functionality and optimise performance. • Define milestones, budgets, and resource allocation for the ASIC workstream and report progress to senior leadership.
