About the role

💼 What you will do

• Advise multiple business teams across the UK and EMEA on a wide range of legal matters including financial regulation, consumer protection, payments, banking, marketing standards, and partnerships. • Own all aspects of the contract lifecycle with bank partners, online platforms, and enterprise customers — from structuring and drafting through to negotiation. • Assess and advise on risks specific to API integrations including country risk, feature launches, regulatory implications, and bank partner relationships. • Work with the business and global Legal team on new product launches, market expansions, licence applications, corporate matters, and commercial agreements. • Mentor and upskill business teams and other Legal team members, and supervise responses to legal support queries. • Stay up to date on UK legal developments and advise on future-looking initiatives.

📋 Job Requirements

• Have 4–7 years PQE and be a UK-qualified lawyer. • Have experience in the banking or payments industry. • Have previous law firm or in-house experience focusing on payments, card processing, financial services, banking, or investments. • Have a proven aptitude for commercial contract structuring, drafting, and negotiation. • Have a strong interest and experience in financial services regulation including payments, consumer protection, banking, and investments. • Have broad legal knowledge enabling you to spot and resolve regulatory, contract, IP, privacy, and consumer protection issues. • Have clear communication, project coordination, and management skills including for partner relations. • Be able to navigate complex issues and multiple stakeholders, and develop practical risk-based solutions. • Bring a get-it-done, collaborative approach to problem-solving.

• Have experience working on API integration agreements or platform partnership contracts. • Have in-house legal experience at a fintech, payments company, or digital bank. • Have experience supporting licence applications or regulatory expansions into new markets. • Have experience mentoring junior lawyers or advising non-legal stakeholders on complex matters.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Advise UK and EMEA business teams on financial regulation, payments, consumer protection, banking, and commercial matters. • Own the full contract lifecycle with bank partners, online platforms, and enterprise customers. • Assess legal and regulatory risks in API integrations and advise on feature launches and partner relationships. • Support new product launches, market expansions, and licence applications with the global Legal team. • Review current practices and develop and maintain legal templates and processes. • Mentor business teams and Legal team members, and supervise legal support query responses. • Contribute to training, workshops, and wider global Legal team initiatives.
