Legal Counsel

About the role

💼 What you will do

• Give Juro the confidence to scale fast by owning the system, not the queue, for commercial contracts. • Join a legal function that runs Legal as an operating system: routine work is eliminated, automated, or self-served, most deals close without a lawyer, and human time is reserved for critical judgement calls. • Take on the judgement calls that currently all land on the General Counsel, as record deal volumes, larger deals, and enterprise counterparties make them bigger and harder. • Negotiate the deals that genuinely need a lawyer directly with the other side, with agency to make decisions you're accountable for. • Make sure fewer deals need a lawyer at all, refining templates and playbooks, supervising AI review, and fixing systems whenever the same question reaches you twice.

📋 Job Requirements

• Be a solicitor qualified in England & Wales, Scotland, or Northern Ireland, with a current practising certificate. • Bring around 2–4 years of post-qualification experience (qualified March 2024 or earlier). • Have trained somewhere that held you to high standards — likely a City firm, strong regional firm, or tech-sector specialist firm — spending most of your time on commercial, tech, IP, data protection, or AI work. • Have worked in or alongside in-house teams at tech companies (client secondments count) for at least a year, comfortable with ambiguity, limited supervision, and speed. • Have negotiated commercial contracts in tech directly with the other side, end to end, without someone reviewing your work before it goes out. • Have built (not just advised on) things others use, such as playbooks, templates, automation, and training, preferring to fix the cause of a question rather than answer it three times. • Be comfortable working AI-first and pushing an already highly AI-leveraged legal function further. • Be able to shift your day later a few days a month (typically a US-heavy month-end) to be in the room with US counterparties, without stacking extra hours.

🌟 Nice-to-have

• Bring experience across vendor contracts, data protection, compliance, marketing claims, or disputes beyond customer deals. • Have exposure to company-level work such as corporate, governance, employment, or strategic projects. • Have worked in a fully remote, distributed team. • Have experience in legal tech or another fast-scaling AI or SaaS business.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Own the system for commercial contracts, so deals that need a lawyer reach you (not the GC) and close faster for it. • Refine templates, playbooks, thresholds, and AI triage so 90%+ of deals close with no lawyer involved at all. • Negotiate the deals that genuinely need a lawyer directly with the other side, making accountable decisions. • Own the systems for everything else Legal handles — vendor contracts, data protection, compliance, marketing claims, and the occasional dispute — handling exceptions yourself and escalating to the GC only where the risk warrants it. • Supervise AI review and continuously improve the legal function's automation, working AI-first throughout. • Get exposure to the company-level work the GC leads, across corporate, governance, employment, and strategic projects.

About Juro

😃 What Juro offers

• Earn a benchmarked salary of around £80,000 plus equity (MN2 level), with room to flag your expectations if it doesn't match. • Work fully remotely from day one under a choice-first approach, even if you're near an office hub. • Report to a General Counsel who works remotely from the Scottish Highlands, in a genuinely remote-first legal team. • Join a stable, profitable, well-run scale-up building the most AI-leveraged legal function you'll find. • Work within a choice-first culture designed with inclusivity in mind.

💖 What makes Juro unique

Juro exists to help the world agree faster by making it incredibly easy for anyone to agree and manage legal contracts. Frustrated by the slow process of taking a contract from inception to agreement, co-founders Richard Mabey and Pavel Kovalevich set out in 2016 to build a flexible, collaborative, browser-native platform for processing a legal contract end-to-end. Headquartered in London, Juro has helped customers process over 2 million contracts in more than 85 countries, with fast-growing businesses such as Deliveroo, Remote, and Trustpilot relying on it to streamline routine contracts at scale. It's now building the go-to platform for agreeing and managing contracts globally.
