About the role

💼 What you will do

• Assess and underwrite second charge mortgage applications using Open Banking data, credit reference agency information, and supporting documentation to evaluate creditworthiness. • Make informed underwriting decisions in line with internal credit policy, FCA regulatory requirements, and responsible lending standards. • Use Abound's in-house system to process applications from a queue, and contribute system feedback for bug spotting and improvements. • Conduct fraud prevention and AML checks in line with internal controls and FCA requirements. • Manage and progress your own underwriting pipeline efficiently while maintaining service standards and growing targets.

📋 Job Requirements

• Have a minimum of 1 year of experience underwriting first or second charge mortgages. • Have experience with own pipeline management and working to targets. • Have experience within an FCA-regulated environment. • Have a strong understanding of responsible lending, affordability assessment, fraud prevention, and credit file assessment. • Have excellent attention to detail and sound judgement. • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach. • Be comfortable working in a growing and evolving business environment.

• Have experience across both secured and unsecured lending products. • Have experience in specialist finance or other credit environments. • Have familiarity with Open Banking data in an underwriting context.

• Underwrite second charge mortgage applications end to end using Open Banking, CRA data, and supporting documentation. • Make balanced lending decisions in line with credit policy and regulatory requirements. • Manage your own pipeline and work to growing volume targets. • Conduct fraud prevention and AML checks in line with FCA requirements. • Contribute system feedback and flag bugs or process improvements to the in-house platform team. • Support a culture of responsible lending and strong risk awareness. • Continue developing underwriting knowledge and broader lending expertise.
