About the role

💼 What you will do

• Join the team in central London as a Server Engineer, designing, prototyping, and developing server-based multiplayer game systems for successful mobile games. • Enjoy taking ownership of your work in a high-load environment with the technical challenges it presents. • Work on a specific game team closely with Artists, Designers, and other programmers, having a huge impact day-to-day on the backend services for a successful game.

📋 Job Requirements

• Demonstrate previous and proven commercial experience as a server, network, or backend developer working in a high-load environment. • Show strong technical design and code skills in suitable web technologies and frameworks including JavaScript/TypeScript and/or C#/.NET, Node.js, Azure/AWS/GCP, Kubernetes, SQL/NoSQL, and Redis. • Bring broad experience of server and network programming principles including database design, replication, load balancing, reliable/unreliable messaging, latency minimisation, and security. • Have a passion for the latest web technology, with an interest in games being a definite advantage.

• Bring games industry and/or Unity experience.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and develop server-based multiplayer game systems. • Work across synchronous and asynchronous gameplay, tournaments and events, matchmaking, leaderboards, DLC, and more. • Work closely with designers, programmers, and other disciplines to solve challenges involved in creating a high-quality, scalable, secure, and performant online user experience. • Grow the multiplayer service into innovative new areas across new titles, using the latest technology to develop the most compelling online experience for players. • Design and build new online functionality in a maintainable, robust, and flexible manner, ensuring scalability and readiness for rapid post-launch updates. • Write tools where necessary to empower artists, designers, and customer services to administrate online services. • Be actively involved in design discussions to make best use of technology.
