Product Manager (Ex-Founder or Ex-Product Engineer)

Posted on 20 April 2026

About the role

💼 What you will do

• Focus on research, data, and setting high-level context across the organisation rather than micro-managing engineers. • Work across multiple products to determine how they are being used, what the competitive landscape looks like, and how users feel about PostHog. • Own the commercial aspects of your products with a heavy emphasis on analysing data and talking to users.

📋 Job Requirements

• Have been a technical founder or product engineer in a startup with hands-on coding experience. • Have strong product sense and be able to identify a product biggest selling points and weaknesses and turn them into actionable insights. • Be familiar with business and product metrics such as activation, retention, and churn and not hesitate to write SQL to answer data questions. • Be very proactive and organised, figuring out what needs to happen and keeping multiple threads moving forward without letting things slip. • Collaborate well, defaulting to transparency, sharing early, and seeking feedback from the team and customers in an async-first world.

🌟 Nice-to-have

• Have done a decent portion of interviewing users already and possibly worked with designers or engineers on new user experiences. • Have additional data modelling experience on top of writing queries. • Have worked on a developer tool or AI product before.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Run monthly growth reviews for products that have product-market fit, ensuring the right metrics are tracked and digging into changes. • Find actionable patterns across thousands of paying customers and many more free-tier users to help reach $100M ARR. • Lead research into competitors and the tooling landscape and provide recommendations on where the biggest untapped potential lies. • Organise user interviews and provide just-in-time product feedback for new and existing features. • Coach product engineers on how to do product. • Pick up data deep dives, pricing and packaging investigations, or UX rubber-ducking with engineers based on where it makes the most sense to spend time.

🚀 Why Join - Our Take

We have used PostHog's web analytics ourselves and genuinely loved the experience. The product is fast, thoughtfully designed, and surprisingly fun to use. PostHog is unlike most SaaS companies: their entire handbook is public, their codebase is open source, and they share revenue figures and board meeting notes with every team member. The company has raised $194M from investors, including Stripe, GV, and Y Combinator, reached a $1.4 billion valuation in 2025, and is targeting $100M in ARR by the end of 2026. They pay generously, benchmarking engineering salaries at the 90th percentile of San Francisco rates adjusted by location, with a fully public compensation calculator so you know your salary before you even apply. Employees on Glassdoor consistently highlight the flexible spending, genuine remote-first culture, and regular offsites, alongside a $1,500 quarterly budget for meeting up with colleagues anywhere in the world. Many team members are former founders, and the company is structured around small, autonomous teams that own their products end-to-end. If you are an engineer or builder who thrives on autonomy, ships fast, and wants to work on a product used by nearly 200,000 teams, PostHog is a rare opportunity.

😃 What PostHog offers

💖 What makes PostHog unique

PostHog is building the operating system for folks who build software. Starting with open-source product analytics out of Y Combinator W20, they have since shipped more than a dozen products including a built-in data warehouse, customer data platform, and PostHog AI. Over 100,000 companies have installed PostHog, mostly driven by word of mouth, with revenue growing 10% month on month on average.

💬 What employees say

"Remote-first and async culture, fully open source and transparent, with unlimited PTO and multiple offsites per year to connect with colleagues."
