Senior Software Engineer II (Growth)

Posted on 26 Jun 2026New

About the role

💼 What you will do

• Join the Growth Engineering team, owning key parts of the user journey into Runna across web and app, turning first-time visitors into long-term engaged subscribers. • Lead the technical strategy for experimentation across web and app — defining how the team runs, instruments, and learns from experiments at scale. • Take technical ownership across multiple workstreams, setting the standard for how the team approaches conversion engineering. • Drive cross-team coordination with other engineering and product teams whose work intersects with Growth, ensuring consistent, high-quality user experiences across the platform. • Work hybrid from the Vauxhall office three days per week.

📋 Job Requirements

• Bring strong TypeScript/JavaScript experience with a track record of establishing patterns and standards that other engineers adopt. • Bring 3+ years of experience with depth in at least one area of the stack and the range to contribute meaningfully across it. • Show experience building user-facing product surfaces where conversion and UX matter, and the ability to shape the technical direction of those surfaces rather than just deliver features within them. • Show skill at delivering large, complex projects end-to-end — from architecture and technical design through phased rollout, measurement, and iteration — coordinating multiple engineers across stages. • Bring enthusiasm for and ability to actively shape iterative development, continuous deployment, knowledge sharing, and shared code ownership across cross-functional teams.

🌟 Nice-to-have

• Bring experience with Swift or Kotlin for mobile, or Next.js for web experiences. • Bring experience leading or establishing experimentation platforms and A/B testing infrastructure at a team or org level. • Bring experience with analytics tooling and a track record of translating experiment learnings into better processes, frameworks, or tooling for a team.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Architect, build, test, and ship high-impact user journeys and subscription funnels, taking technical ownership across multiple workstreams. • Lead the technical strategy for experimentation across web and app — defining how experiments are run, instrumented, and learned from at scale. • Work closely with Product, Design, and Data to shape the roadmap, proactively identifying opportunities and balancing long-term scalability with shorter-term business goals. • Own and evolve the instrumentation, tracking, and tooling strategy, establishing standards for measuring behaviour and impact across the team. • Elevate engineering culture by improving CI/CD, testing and release workflows, and establishing coding standards that raise the bar for the whole team.

About Runna

📊 Runna at a glance

🚀 Why Join - Our Take

Runna is one of the most exciting fitness startups in the UK right now, and the Strava acquisition only makes the opportunity bigger. In under four years from launch, Dom and Ben built Runna from a website selling personalised PDF training plans to a globally rated running coaching app, a finalist for Apple's iPhone App of the Year, and ultimately an acquisition by the world's largest fitness community. The team has grown to over 150 people across London and Boston, and Strava has publicly committed to investing further in growing both the team and the product. What stands out on Glassdoor (4.9/5 from 31 reviews, with 100% of employees recommending it) is how consistently people praise the culture, the kindness of their colleagues, and the quality of the leadership. Benefits are genuinely strong for a company this size: private health insurance, enhanced parental leave (up to 20 weeks fully paid), Strava equity, a smartwatch as you pass probation, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, and a paid hour each week to go for a run during work hours. They operate a flexi-hybrid model, typically three days a week in their Vauxhall office. The team runs bi-weekly together, and Workout Wednesdays include exercise plus a free lunch. The main thing to be aware of is that this is a fast-paced startup environment where priorities can shift quickly, which some reviewers flag as a challenge. There is also a slight bias toward hiring passionate runners, though this has been improving. If you want to work on a product that helped millions of runners train, alongside kind and ambitious people, with the backing and scale of Strava behind you, Runna is a brilliant opportunity.

😃 What Runna offers

• Earn £85,000–£95,000 per year plus equity participation in Strava's long-term stock incentive programme. • Take 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, with flexibility on when you take them. • Access private health insurance with Bupa and a workplace pension scheme. • Receive a free Runna and Strava subscription for yourself and three friends. • Get an annual budget to spend on gear, events, and the gym. • Access Headspace for mindfulness, Modern Health for mental wellness support, and Carrot for fertility and family-forming benefits.

💖 What makes Runna unique

Runna is on a mission to become the go-to global training platform for runners of every level, from first 5k to marathon. Selected by Apple as a global finalist for iPhone App of the Year 2024 and acquired by Strava in 2025, Runna combines world-class coaching, personalised training plans, and community to help everyday runners become outstanding.

💬 What employees say

"The founders are inspiring and genuinely supportive. The culture is healthy, collaborative and free of politics; everyone is moving in the same direction. It is fast-paced in the best way: no bureaucracy, no getting stuck, just constant forward momentum. The people are ambitious, kind and love to learn. Workout Wednesdays, where the whole team exercises together and then has a free lunch, should be mandatory for all companies! This place does not give me Sunday blues. I am genuinely excited to come in on a Monday morning."
