Software Engineer — Graphics & Platform

Posted on 3 July 2026New

About the role

💼 What you will do

• Join a geospatial AI business powering advanced digital twins for the world's most critical infrastructure projects, partnering with National Grid, Network Rail, Heathrow, and Severn Trent Water. • Work where vast, messy, multi-format project data gets turned into something that makes immediate sense to engineers and project teams. • Go deepest in graphics and data processing while contributing across the wider platform wherever the work takes you. • Join at an exciting time — Sensat more than doubled ARR in 2025 with imminent US market entry representing a significant value inflection point.

📋 Job Requirements

• Demonstrate hands-on experience with WebGL or a WebGL-based rendering library (three.js, luma.gl, deck.gl, Babylon.js, or similar) — having built or shipped something real with it. • Show exposure to modern 3D asset formats such as glTF, USD, and 3D Tiles, understanding what they're for and where they fit. • Be comfortable working across the web stack — graphics is a specialism here, not a silo. • Have experience in a systems or compiled language (C, C++, Rust, or Go), not afraid of lower-level code when the problem calls for it. • Demonstrate solid commercial software development experience, comfortable building, testing, and shipping reliable code without heavy hand-holding. • Pull the thread when hitting something unfamiliar, asking early when stuck but not waiting to be unblocked.

🌟 Nice-to-have

• Bring hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure or database design beyond the basics (AWS and Postgres are what Sensat runs). • Have exposure to geospatial, GIS, or remote sensing concepts (CRS, raster/vector data, point clouds) — curiosity counts more than depth. • Bring prior work in construction, engineering, or infrastructure software. • Have side projects or open-source contributions in graphics, geospatial, or a related area.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Build and improve pipelines to process, optimise, and serve large-scale geospatial and CAD datasets for the web. • Work with modern 3D data formats (glTF, USD, 3D Tiles, point clouds) understanding the tradeoffs in how they're stored, streamed, and rendered. • Develop and iterate on rendering functionality using WebGL-based libraries, balancing visual quality, accuracy, and performance. • Stay close to developments in graphics and geospatial tech, feeding new approaches into your thinking and raising them with the team. • Contribute across the SaaS platform — backend APIs (Golang), database work (Postgres), frontend features (Angular), and cloud infrastructure (AWS). • Contribute to platform reliability and engineering standards — code review, testing, documentation, and team processes. • Collaborate with product and customer-facing teams to ensure the platform delivers a high-quality experience.
