iOS Engineer

• Build features for Starling's iOS app — one of the top-rated finance apps in the UK with over 300,000 ratings and an average of 4.9 stars. • Work in cross-functional feature teams, empowered to make decisions and commit, review, and ship new code from your first week. • Join an entirely Swift codebase using MVVM-C architecture, with a strong focus on modularity, testability, and clean code. • Work closely with mobile engineers of varied experience levels, with a flat structure and genuine ownership from day one. • Hybrid role with a minimum of one day per week in one of Starling's offices: London, Southampton, Cardiff, or Manchester.

• Strong iOS development experience in Swift. • Solid knowledge of UIKit concepts and components — this is a must. • Able to produce robust, well-tested code that gives customers the reliability they need. • Cares about the product, user experience, and design. • Understands and prioritises security when implementing features, fixing bugs, or making technical improvements. • Particular focus on Accessibility and writing clean, maintainable code. • Self-driven with the ability to take full ownership of building, shipping, and maintaining code.

• Experience with reactive programming, particularly RxSwift. • Familiarity with MVVM-C architecture or similar highly modular iOS patterns. • Experience with developer productivity tooling or automation within an iOS codebase.

• Design, build, and release new iOS screens and features for Starling's banking app. • Write robust, well-tested Swift code in a modular UIKit-based codebase using MVVM-C architecture. • Review code from peers and contribute to a high-quality, maintainable codebase. • Prioritise security and accessibility across all layers of the application. • Share knowledge with colleagues and contribute to efficient, productive team processes. • Work within a cross-functional feature team, collaborating closely with engineers, designers, and product managers.
