About the role

💼 What you will do

• Join a small backend functional team (maximum 4–5 people) at Cytora, an AI-powered platform transforming how insurers and brokers connect, operate, and grow. • Prototype, implement, ship, and support features that are changing the insurance industry, with Generative AI at the core of the product. • Work independently within a team guided by a technical lead and product owner, with engineering distributed across Europe. • Fully remote role, open to candidates anywhere in the UK or Ireland with permanent right to work.

📋 Job Requirements

• Proficient in Python with hands-on experience across libraries such as FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Pydantic, pytest, and mypy. • Strong experience with mypy or another static type checker. • Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and OpenAPI specification. • Experience with relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL. • Comfortable with Docker and docker-compose for local development and packaging. • Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda, S3, RDS, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, and SES. • Familiar with Git and GitHub-based workflows.

🌟 Nice-to-have

• Experience with Redis, GCP Vertex AI (Gemini), or BigQuery. • Background with OCR engines such as AWS Textract, Google Document AI, or Tesseract. • Prompt engineering experience with large language models. • Familiarity with Kubernetes, CircleCI, Datadog, Auth0, Terraform, or LocalStack. • Experience with role-based access control and JSON Schema.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Prototype, implement, ship, and support backend features on Cytora's AI-powered insurance platform. • Build and maintain Python-based backend services deployed primarily as AWS Lambda functions. • Collaborate with a technical lead and product owner to ensure the team delivers the right features. • Contribute to the digitisation of insurance risks using Generative AI at the core of the product. • Work asynchronously with a distributed European engineering team.
