Lead Data Scientist

• Lead data strategy and continue to evolve Monzo's product to make managing money magically simple for customers. • Develop and execute best practices for experimentation, enabling data-informed decisions across the business. • Work closely with leaders in product, engineering, design, and research to build and iterate on product ideas. • Set standards and foster knowledge sharing to continuously improve data practices across Monzo. • Mentor other data scientists and analytics engineers across squads including Borrowing, Growth, Payments, Fincrime, Wealth, and Core. • Think strategically about commercial products and how data-driven decisions can unlock more value for customers.

• Be able to think strategically about commercial products and how data decisions drive customer value. • Have experience working with cross-functional, fast-moving product teams. • Be excited about mentoring data scientists and analytics engineers. • Have strong experimentation expertise and the ability to utilise new data techniques to solve challenging problems. • Be opinionated about how to measure success and willing to challenge the status quo. • Have a deep understanding of data nuances and the ability to lay foundational knowledge for new products and features.

• Have experience working across multiple data science domains such as lending, growth, payments, or financial crime. • Have familiarity with Looker or similar self-serve analytics platforms. • Have experience in a high-growth consumer fintech or digital bank environment. • Have experience working in distributed or remote-first data teams.

• Lead data strategy for your squad and drive Monzo's product evolution through data insights. • Develop and embed best practices for experimentation and data-informed decision-making. • Collaborate with product, engineering, design, and research leaders on product ideation and iteration. • Set data standards and foster knowledge sharing across the wider Data Science function. • Mentor and develop data scientists and analytics engineers within your team. • Identify and apply new data techniques to solve complex, high-impact business problems.
