Director of Growth Product

About the role

💼 What you will do

• Own one of Runna's four core product pillars — leading a cross-functional team of 8+ across Acquisition, Onboarding & Activation, and Monetisation squads. • Define the multi-year vision for the Growth pillar and connect the roadmap clearly to Runna's business goals across acquisition, conversion, and early retention. • Own the in-product growth surface — onboarding, activation, trial and paywall journeys, free-to-paid conversion, and early retention loops. • Partner closely with the Director of Growth Marketing to create a tight, continuous loop between product and marketing decisions. • Build the technical measurement foundations — server-side tracking, attribution, and marketing automation — for end-to-end visibility into subscriber growth. • Maximise Runna's unique relationship within the Strava Group, turning access to Strava's runners and ecosystem into a durable growth advantage.

📋 Job Requirements

• Have 10+ years of experience in product or growth product, with significant time leading teams and functions. • Have driven real growth outcomes in consumer subscription products across acquisition, onboarding, conversion, and retention — with numbers to prove it. • Have owned complex domains across multiple teams, not just a single feature area. • Have a clear point of view on how subscription products price and package their offering. • Be exceptionally strong with data and treat experimentation as a core operating discipline. • Have been close enough to measurement stacks — server-side tracking, attribution, event taxonomies — to know what good looks like. • Have worked closely with performance, lifecycle, and organic marketing teams as genuine partners. • Be based in London or able to come into the Vauxhall office regularly, ideally 3 days a week.

🌟 Nice-to-have

• Have a strong interest in fitness apps and the fitness space. • Have experience working in React Native mobile application teams. • Have experience with cross-product or cross-platform growth funnels spanning app, web, and partner platforms. • Have experience in a post-acquisition or high-growth integration environment.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Own strategy and shape company priorities for the Growth product pillar. • Drive in-app experiences that turn first-time users into committed, paying runners. • Lead experimentation pace and quality across onboarding, activation, and monetisation surfaces. • Build the data and measurement foundation for end-to-end subscriber growth visibility. • Drive department-wide initiatives that elevate how the entire Product org functions. • Line manage, mentor, and develop PMs across Growth squads. • Play an active role in hiring and raising the bar across the PM organisation.

About Runna

📊 Runna at a glance

🚀 Why Join - Our Take

Runna is one of the most exciting fitness startups in the UK right now, and the Strava acquisition only makes the opportunity bigger. In under four years from launch, Dom and Ben built Runna from a website selling personalised PDF training plans to a globally rated running coaching app, a finalist for Apple's iPhone App of the Year, and ultimately an acquisition by the world's largest fitness community. The team has grown to over 150 people across London and Boston, and Strava has publicly committed to investing further in growing both the team and the product. What stands out on Glassdoor (4.9/5 from 31 reviews, with 100% of employees recommending it) is how consistently people praise the culture, the kindness of their colleagues, and the quality of the leadership. Benefits are genuinely strong for a company this size: private health insurance, enhanced parental leave (up to 20 weeks fully paid), Strava equity, a smartwatch as you pass probation, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, and a paid hour each week to go for a run during work hours. They operate a flexi-hybrid model, typically three days a week in their Vauxhall office. The team runs bi-weekly together, and Workout Wednesdays include exercise plus a free lunch. The main thing to be aware of is that this is a fast-paced startup environment where priorities can shift quickly, which some reviewers flag as a challenge. There is also a slight bias toward hiring passionate runners, though this has been improving. If you want to work on a product that helped millions of runners train, alongside kind and ambitious people, with the backing and scale of Strava behind you, Runna is a brilliant opportunity.

😃 What Runna offers

• Earn £145,000–£155,000 per year plus participation in Strava's long-term incentive stock programmes. • Join Runna's Senior Leadership Team reporting directly to the Managing Director. • Work in a hybrid pattern with 3 days per week in the Vauxhall office. • Take 25 days holiday plus bank holidays. • Access free Runna and Strava subscriptions for yourself and 3 friends. • Receive a Headspace membership and Modern Health mental wellness platform access. • Access private health insurance with Bupa and a workplace pension scheme. • Receive an annual budget for gear, events, and gym. • Access Carrot fertility and family-forming support.

💖 What makes Runna unique

Runna is building the number one training platform for runners — helping everyday runners become outstanding through world-class training, coaching, and community. Selected as an Apple iPhone App of the Year finalist in 2024 and acquired by Strava in 2025, Runna is growing fast with huge ambitions to become the go-to global training platform for millions of runners. The Growth Team sits at the intersection of marketing, product, and data — owning how runners discover, convert, and engage with the product.

💬 What employees say

"The founders are inspiring and genuinely supportive. The culture is healthy, collaborative and free of politics; everyone is moving in the same direction. It is fast-paced in the best way: no bureaucracy, no getting stuck, just constant forward momentum. The people are ambitious, kind and love to learn. Workout Wednesdays, where the whole team exercises together and then has a free lunch, should be mandatory for all companies! This place does not give me Sunday blues. I am genuinely excited to come in on a Monday morning."
