About the role

💼 What you will do

• Join Travel Mode, a startup-style team within Tripadvisor building a new in-destination product for travellers, and play a major role in defining the vision for the initial MVP on iOS and Android. • Co-own the end-to-end design process from discovery and abstract problem-solving through to high-fidelity final treatments, working within a rapid experimentation culture. • Champion native-first, user-centred design, leading the way on features that leverage haptics, motion, location services, and interaction quality to ensure the app feels premium and responsive. • Partner with Product and Engineering to turn complex guidance data, community contributions, and marketplace logistics into simple, one-tap mobile solutions. • Work fully remotely, available across two locations.

📋 Job Requirements

• Bring 5+ years of experience shipping native mobile products with a deep understanding of platform-specific behaviours for iOS and Android. • Bring an exceptional design craft portfolio showcasing high-quality, production-ready mobile experiences with a passion for the last 5% of polish — transitions, feedback, and visual hierarchy. • Bring a proven history of partnering with engineers to ship high-performance features, with a solid grasp of technical constraints for native platforms. • Bring deep familiarity with iOS and Android conventions and the latest trends and capabilities in the mobile landscape. • Bring demonstrated ability to use AI tools to improve efficiency, quality, and decision-making in day-to-day design work.

🌟 Nice-to-have

• Bring experience working in a startup or hypothesis-driven product team within a larger organisation. • Bring familiarity with location-based or in-destination consumer products. • Bring experience using jobs-to-be-done frameworks alongside quantitative mobile analytics to drive design decisions.

🎯 Responsibilities

• Co-own the end-to-end design process for Travel Mode within iOS and Android apps, from discovery through to high-fidelity final treatments. • Work within a rapid experimentation culture, leveraging testing and mobile-specific analytics to guide iterative design decisions. • Shape and communicate a clear MVP vision, balancing big-picture strategic goals with hands-on execution. • Partner with Product and Engineering to simplify complex guidance data, community contributions, and marketplace logistics into intuitive one-tap mobile solutions. • Mentor the broader team and navigate ambiguity, explaining the "why" behind design decisions clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
