Senior Product Designer, Creators
About the role
💼 What you will do
• Lead the evolution of how content — starting with props — is created, managed, and brought to life in VRChat, designing player-facing interactions for new content types such as companions, environmental objects, and interactive items. • Define interaction models, affordances, and behavioural systems that make props intuitive and engaging in immersive social contexts across desktop, VR, and mobile. • Explore and establish new UX patterns for spatial and presence-based interaction, including how players discover, use, and share props in-world. • Partner closely with engineers to ensure interactions feel responsive and performant, and use prototyping and in-world testing to validate concepts and refine usability in real contexts. • Work fully remotely from anywhere in the world with flexible hours and core collaboration hours.
📋 Job Requirements
• Bring 5–8+ years of product design experience with a strong focus on interaction design, systems design, or immersive environments. • Bring experience designing interactive systems, game mechanics, or spatial interfaces. • Show the ability to simplify complexity without sacrificing capability or clarity, and comfort working in ambiguity to define structure where none exists yet. • Bring proficiency in Figma and experience collaborating closely with engineering to bring designs to life. • Think in flows and systems, understanding how tools fit into broader user lifecycles and full product ecosystems.
🌟 Nice-to-have
• Bring familiarity with Unity, VRChat SDKs, Blender, or other developer tools. • Bring understanding of trust, safety, or moderation systems that support healthy online interactions. • Bring familiarity with social VR, presence-based UX, or designing for avatar-based expression. • Bring experience working on cross-platform design across desktop, mobile, and VR headsets. • Bring a passion for online communities, emergent play, social behaviour, or the sociology of digital spaces.
🎯 Responsibilities
• Lead end-to-end design for core props workflows, defining player-facing interactions for new content types across immersive social contexts. • Define interaction models, affordances, and behavioural systems that make props intuitive and engaging across desktop, VR, and mobile. • Translate technical concepts into approachable UX through thoughtful flows, clear visual hierarchy, and user-friendly microcopy. • Run lightweight usability testing including concept checks and prototype tests to validate designs early, identify friction, and iterate quickly. • Collaborate with product and design leadership to influence the long-term direction of content interaction systems across the broader creator toolkit.
